I am a lecturer in Chinese studies at the University of Leeds. I teach on vernacular traditions, religions and cultures of Western China with an emphasis on Tibet. My teaching emphasises learning through active engagement with core concepts, principles, and subject matter. I strongly believe in the importance of citation practices and of representation in disciplines, and my teaching reflects this particularly in assigned readings and discussions as students read work from a diverse array of scholars. At Leeds, I contribute lectures to a variety of co-taught modules including Foundations of East Asia, Introduction to East Asian Religions, and East Asian Buddhist Texts. I also lead an undergraduate Oral and Performance Traditions of China, and taught postgraduate teaching including Approaching China through Ethnography. Syllabi available upon request.
